Chinese hacker and Lineage II
According to vnunet.com, Japanese authorities have arrested some time ago a Chinese student for hacking into the online game Lineage II. This Chinese guy has crafted a special bot that strip a player’s characters from armor, items, weapons and adena. Later he just sell all stuff on auction websites and later completed all transaction in the game. Other players who encountered this Chinese hacker thought they saw a regular player. But as the two would engage in a ferocious fight, the hacker proved invincible and would leave his pray unable to continue playing in Lineage. Mike Crouch who is PR manager for NCSoft, said that “Bots are the biggest problem we face with Lineage II”, “We kick people out if they use bots. “ – he added.
NCSoft is scanning game to catch all hackers using illegal software and doing illegal activities but bots are becoming more and more complicated and complex. Well very shady things happen in the world of online games, these days…watch out for hackers in Lineage anyway.
Account safety is one of the top issues in the gaming world out there today. Some MMORPG have done the virtual on-screen keyboard to protect against loggers, while others have simply a two password system… Is this method effective? I think not, because if the key logger obtained your primary password, then why would it not have your second password?
New method to improve security of our game accounts, is used by Blizzard – called “the Blizzard authenticator” – generates a random password for you to input each time before using your normal password to access your account. There are two ways Blizzard offers this account protection, and that is with a small device no larger than your average key chain.
Hacker and thieves are the biggest threat lately in MMORPGs. That’s you should keep your account data on a paper, somewhere safe. DO NOT share with anybody with your account data! Even when you receive mail from game company related to your MMORPG – it’s probably fake and they want to steal your account!
