FBI Raids Lineage II Pirates
The FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) conducted few raids across the country, closing down Lineage II pirating site L2Extreme.
NCsoft declared:
L2E was providing an estimated 50,000 gamers with unauthorized access to Lineage II, costing NCsoft million of dollars a year, the company said in a press release.
NCsoft North America general counsel, Matt Esber said “Operations like this essentially are defrauding customers by stealing from companies like NCsoft,” Mr Esber also said, “We’re extremely pleased that the FBI has worked with us so diligently to bring this particular case to its current state and we want our customers to understand that we will continue to fight similar operations in the future in order to maintain the integrity of all NCsoft games.”
Well i digg out this news from the past, it was 2 year ago. What is interesting there are no problems now in such a matter, i remember one very small private server for World of Warcraft but there were around 50 gamers on it so it wasn’t big problem.
I’ve found this article on kotaku.com and one guy have point, Tonaku: It would have been way cooler if they actually did the raid online in the game…he he well i wonder myself how FBI guys are spending time, maybe fishing or maybe they are like to grind monsters on Lineage raids?!
